2024 College of DuPage Bird Strike Report
A Review of “Bird Friendly COD” Bird Collision Monitors Data Collection
The 2024 Report follows the 2023 Report regarding bird collisions at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. “Bird Friendly COD” is an interdisciplinary group of volunteer facility, staff, students and community members working alongside Chicago Bird Collision Monitors (CBCM) and DuPage Willowbrook Wildlife Center to protect the lives of migratory birds on the COD campus through research, documentation, education and policy change. In addition to recommendations regarding placement of bird safe window film similar to that placed at McCormick Place in Chicago, the 2024 report suggests that “lights on campus” be shut off more frequently to decrease nighttime collision, especially during spring and fall migration.
The 2024 and 2023 Reports can be found here. Information about Bird Friendly COD, CBCM, DuPage Willowbrook Wildlife Center and direction to many incredible resources can also be found at this link.
